There was a recent period with zero activity. The volcano has been active on a sporadic basis for years. We must not, Kilauea experiences dormant periods where there isn’t even a glow of lava for quite some time. No unusual activity has been noted along the volcano’s East Rift Zone or Southwest Rift Zone.” As of JKilauea is erupting! From the USGS “Eruptive activity is confined to Halemaʻumaʻu crater within the summit caldera at Kīlauea. The Kilauea volcano is the other one to watch at the Volcanoes National Park. On 11/27/22 the Mauna Loa volcano erupted for the first time in 38 years! Mauna Loa is showing no activity as of today, June 15, 2023.
